Getting Your Garden Ready for Outside Dining

Getting Your Garden Ready for Outside Dining

Summer won’t be too far away now. Even in Spring, we will have some nice warm days that can be perfect for dining al fresco. So with the warmer weather coming, you will want to eat outside more and more.

There is something so nice when you can have a BBQ or sit and eat outside. Even if you just want to be with friends, drinking cocktails and chatting the night away. It is so much nicer when you can do that outside. Here are a few things you should think about to get you ready for it.

Dining Area

If you don’t currently have a table and chairs outside, then it is a great investment to get some. I say investment, but the reality is that they aren’t all that expensive. So choose one that goes well with the outside colour of your home. You will want it to be quite subtle and blend it with the exterior wall. If you already have a table and chairs, they more than likely need a spring clean. Using a pressure washer is a great way to get mud, moss and dirt off quickly. Then it is a good idea to clean with some antibacterial wipes or spray. If you are going to be eating off it, you want it to be super clean.

Heating

Hopefully, you won’t need too much heating. But some nights it can get cooler in the evenings, even if it has been nice and warm during the day. Heating lamps are quite common to have in your garden these days. So they are quite easy to come across and sell at reasonable prices. You could always store it in the garage and bring it out as and when you need it.

Lighting

As your dinner party goes long into the night, you will need some lighting. There quite a few options available for gardens; none of which include a torch! There are solar lights that you can plant in your flower beds. They will charge up during the day and all of that glorious sunshine. Then when it is dark, they will light up. They can look so pretty dotted around the garden, and it is great that they don’t need an electric power supply. You could also go for some LED strip lighting. You could wrap it around the fence or even display it on the wall near where you will be eating. It can look so stunning and sparkly. LED lights are durable so work well for being used outside.

Dishes and Cutlery

When you are eating outside, you might not want to use your normal plates, bowls and wine glasses. I’m not saying go out and get everything plastic, but another set of plates and bowls would be a great idea. Wine and cocktail glasses can be particularly delicate so it is certainly worth getting sturdier options of those. They are more likely to get broken if the are used outside!

Enjoy your summer time and you dinner parties outside.
