How to Make Your Bathroom a Little More Lively & Bright

If you don’t pay as much attention to them as you should, your bathroom can start to feel dull and drab. To get around that, here’s how you can liven it up a little.

Don’t Rule Out Wallpaper

When choosing how to decorate your bathroom walls, most people choose a light, inoffensive coat of paint. But there’s no reason you have to do this. To be honest, it’s a little dull and conventional, so why not do something a bit different?

It can be a much better idea to go for a patterned wallpaper if you can find the design that fits your bathroom and tastes. A lot of people think this is a bad idea in the bathroom, but there’s no reason to think that.

Make the Most of Your Window

It’s very difficult to make a bathroom feel bright and alive if you’re not properly making the most of the window you have. This is your only source of natural light so use it! If you have the ledge full of items and trinkets blocking the light, take them away.

Think about the blinds you use and how you use them. You don’t want anything that blocks out too much light. A simple set of blinds that can be opened fully and closed fully with ease is all that you need. Curtains, on the other hand, aren’t a good idea.

Create New Lighting Possibilities

If your window isn’t particularly large, you need to place even more importance on creating as many new lighting possibilities as you can. This requires you to get the basics right as well as think outside the box a little too.

The best starting point is an overhead light, but this alone is probably not going to be enough if you have limited natural light entering the room. You could add flexible lamps and lighting next to the mirror to add a little extra light.

Make it More Playful if You Have Kids

Having kids is a great excuse to make your bathroom more playful and imaginative. You could have weird and wonderful designs on the wall and lots of decorations that capture the imagination.

This doesn’t just make the room look great but also makes taking a bath more fun (and more appealing) for your kids! So, it’s a win-win situation. You can get in on the fun too. Bathshop321 have come up with 100 awesome things to do in the bathroom - they even suggest you try taking an underwater selfie.

Reflect the Space

Your mirror can play a big part in making the bathroom look more interesting, spacious and bright - as long as you get it right that is. You don’t want to have it too big otherwise it will look obvious that you’re just trying to make the room appear bigger.

It’s important to think about where you place it too. Don’t just put it anywhere because it needs to be reflecting something that’s worth reflecting. For example, it’s always a good idea to have it facing a window if possible so that it will reflect the natural light.

Follow my advice and you’ll have a brighter and livelier bathroom in no time.
