Stunning Open-Plan Kitchen Design Inspiration

Remodeling your kitchen is a huge job, and you need to ensure that everything in the room fits your theme. It can be particularly difficult to redesign an entire kitchen when you don't have a great deal of space with which to work.

Open-plan kitchens look fantastic in modern homes, and they also allow you to make the most of the space you have. That means that having an open-plan contemporary design could make your home look larger than it is. Here is some inspiration to help you create your new kitchen.

1. Light wooden features

There was a time when everybody wanted dark wood or even metal in their kitchen. Now, the trend has moved on somewhat, and people would rather have light wooden features in the room. When you speak to a general contractor nh, ask him or her about your feature options. Much of the time, when you are remodeling a room in your home, you have an array of choices available to you. Ensure that you know what you want before you contact anyone.

2. Islands

You might associate kitchen island units with the 1960's, but they are back right now and more popular than ever. Kitchen islands work well for open-plan spaces as they offer a divide between your living space and your kitchen. That means that you don't need to close off the entire area, yet you still have a mark to show you where your kitchen begins. If you look at this particular island, you will notice that it attaches to the main kitchen units. That is the best design technique, because it ties the entire space together.

3. Tiled flooring

Tiled flooring is a must in any contemporary kitchen. Choosing the right tiles for your kitchen might seem tricky, but it needn't be. Avoid using laminate or fake material that looks like tiles. These materials always look cheap and tacky. Instead, you should hire some workmen to fit new tiles in your kitchen area. Choose something in a muted tone color so that it does not dominate the area too much. You should be wary of dark patterns on your flooring as it rarely looks attractive.

4. Unique lighting

As you can see here, the designer has used quite an exciting lighting design. Rather than bunching all the fixtures up together, the designer has created a unique pattern on the ceiling. If you are looking for ways in which to experiment with your design, this idea is perfect. There are no rules when it comes to lighting, and so you can do whatever you think looks incredible.

5. Crisp, white walls

You might think that a pastel color would compliment light wood well. The problem is that pastel colors and light wood together tend to look a little dated. Instead, you should consider using a crisp, white base for your walls. You can see here that the designer has painted an exposed wall in bright white. The look is contemporary, yet subtle. The last thing you want is your kitchen to look as though you haven't changed it since the 1980's. Using white is a modern way to improve the look of your room.

6. Hidden devices

Everyone has a vast array of kitchen devices in their room. From microwaves to coffee machines, there is all manner of things you can include in your kitchen area. The problem is that these devices tend to clutter up the surfaces in your kitchen. One way in which you can make your space look large and modern is to get hidden devices. That means that you get devices built into your cupboards and units.
