Top Tips For Giving Your Kitchen A New Look On A Budget

Are you bored of your kitchen or is it starting to look a little worn? Either way, perhaps it is time to think about redesigning it and giving your cooking space a fresh, new look.

If you are a budding chef or baker and spend lots of time in the kitchen, it is important that you have a space to work in that is well designed, stylish and most importantly, easy to use.

However, if you don’t have the funds to pay for a full kitchen redesign, there is no need to panic. There are plenty of ways you can give your kitchen a new look whilst sticking to your budget.

For simple, straightforward, low-cost kitchen design tips, have a read of this.

1. Think about the walls

Kitchen walls are notorious for getting filthy - grease, dirt, food, etc., can create a mucky looking paint job. Start off by giving the walls a good wash down - you would be surprised by how much of a difference washing the walls can make.

If you have any paint left over from when you last decorated, use it to touch up your walls and freshen them up. Alternatively, if your budget stretches as far as a couple of cans of paint, paint your kitchen in a new colour. When buying new paint, make sure to choose a style that is safe for kitchen use. Although kitchen friendly paint might cost a little more, at least it won’t peel or bubble.

2. Give your cabinets a new look

If your budget won’t stretch as far as new kitchen cabinets, think about how you can give them a new look yourself.

An excellent way to freshen up your cabinets without breaking the bank is by buying new doors for them or painting the doors yourself. For a fresh look, repaint your cabinets in a contrasting colour - if they were light coloured before, paint them in a darker shade.

3. Think about the small things

As well as giving your cabinets a fresh look, think about the small things that will improve their look. Invest in new, modern cabinet handles - colourful, classic or unique, it’s up to you. To find perfect door handles for your kitchen, have a look online at creative sites like Etsy.

4. Think about flooring

If there is one thing you can afford to splash out on, consider investing in new flooring. If your kitchen flooring is looking old or worn, then it is a good idea to replace it.

You could also use new kitchen flooring to create a focal point in the room, depending on what style of flooring you choose. For example, if you were to invest in uniquely designed Moroccan inspired tiles from www.cementtiles.com, you could use your floor design as a focal point.

5. Swap your table and chairs

If you have a table and chair set in the kitchen, think about trading it in for a new one.

Don’t underestimate how much of a difference a new features like a dining table can make to a room. If you opt for an attractive design your table and chairs can bring a stylish tone to your kitchen.

Best of all, a new table and chair set doesn't have to break the bank, for cheap deals have a look online and in high street discount stores.
