Ways To Make Your Home Perfect

If you speak to someone that lives (or has ever lived) in a rented home then they will tell you that there are both advantages and disadvantages. Renting a place to live isn't for everyone, so it is something that you need to think about before you decide if that is what you want to do.

One of the best things about renting your home is that you aren't in charge of maintenance or repairs. So no trying to hunt out home AC repair in Austin or trying to find a plumber in New York in the middle of the night. However, the downfall is that you often don't have much say over the decor of a property - especially if you are renting for short term.

That isn't to say that you can't make a place feel like it is yours, it just means that you might need to be a little creative when it comes to decor and style ideas.

Hanging Artwork

One of the best things you can do is get some artwork hang on the walls. If your landlord has already put hanging nails on the wall then this makes life even easier for you. If not then you can invest in hanging kits that require not nails in order to hang pictures. This saves you damaging the walls, which your landlord will probably not be too happy about. There are hundreds of ideas for what you can hang on the wall, so finding something that makes you feel at home should not be too difficult.

Use Decorations and Accessories

Just because you can't decorate the walls of a room that doesn't mean that you can't style a room in a wall that suits you. Invest in some ornaments and small decorations that you can place around the room. These come in a range of shapes and sizes which means that whatever you are looking for there will be something to suit you. Rugs and throws over sofas also work really well when it comes to bringing a room together.

Personalise Rooms

You need to inject a little of your own personality and memories into rooms. Display items you bought back from holiday, family photos etc. That way when each of the rooms in your rented home will have your stamp on them and that what is important.

A lot of us have a scent that reminds us of home too. If this is the case then you can use candles to recreate the same scent. Places like Yankee Candle have hundreds of different scents on offer so find something that matches your needs should not be too difficult. Get a candle burner so you can light these risk-free!

These might only seem like small changes but you'll be surprised at just how much change they can make. The good thing is that these work in any home, so if you have to move to somewhere new you can them with you. This will help you settle in much quicker!
