Your Guide To Remodeling Your Bedroom This Season

If you are looking to redesign or even remodel your bedroom, there are a lot of considerations to think about. You may be starting with the position of the bed, or you may be contemplating adding a walk-in closet.

If you have an architect or planner, you may want to collaborate closely to design a room that is both functional and comfortable. Here are some of the things you should be thinking about before calling in the renovators:

Position of the sun - If you have a window that faces the sun all day, it could get quite warm. If this is the case, you might want to consider installing blinds to deflect the rays. Some rooms face the rising sun. This is great if you want to be an early riser. However, if you usually work in the evenings, this will be difficult to cope with. Positioning your bed so you are facing away from the window is one simple way to solve this.

Use of the room - Most of us use the bedroom just to sleep in. Therefore, it needs to be cool, dark and quiet when we are there. Some people also spend time in the bedroom watching TV or reading a book. Installing the right points and lighting for this is important. Many of us also get dressed in the bedroom, so space to move in front of closets and dressers is key. The right layout is essential for a bedroom that is functional for all its uses.

Furniture - The bed is likely to be the biggest item in the room. Some are very large, so you need to remodel the room with this in mind. A super king mattress is six foot wide and up to seven feet long. Then you have the bed itself to consider! Most wardrobes or closets are fitted. But you might want to change where they are positioned, especially if you share the room with your partner. A good dresser is also key, and positioning it in the right place offers the best light from the window.

Decor - From drapes to bedspreads, and wall art to floor coverings, your decor says a lot about you. For a bedroom, you may be looking for cool blue colors this season, or even warm grays. You can color-coordinate with your bedding and Martex sheets, so the room feels part of a design scheme. Drapes or curtains are a good idea, even when you are using blinds. They add softness, femininity and fluidity to a room’s design. Carpet in the bedroom is wonderfully luxurious, but the same effect can be created with a high-quality rug.

Remodeling a bedroom is a wonderful project to take on. It gives you a chance to consider all of the elements that will be conducive to quality sleep. You want to create a relaxing space, but also somewhere to wake up refreshed. Keep color schemes simple this season, and enjoy a wonderful night of sleep in your new bedroom.
